Watched I AM SAM...first time since Dad's demise. The tears just wouldn't subside. I remember a rerun of this movie on HBO in 2004 even as I was leaving home in Kolkata to return to Ranchi. I had to reluctantly leave it midway to catch my train and I felt so frustrated. It had encroached upon another TV program Dad used to religiously watch...but he gladly made the concession for me. Dad accompanied me to the bus stop. If memory serves me right, that was the last moment I shared with him.

Dad and I had equally relished the flick.

This is what Bertrand Russell said about religion...

Religion is based, I think, primarily and mainly upon fear. It is partly the terror of the unknown and partly, as I have said, the wish to feel that you have a kind of elder brother who will stand by you in all your troubles and disputes. ... A good world needs knowledge, kindliness, and courage; it does not need a regretful hankering after the past or a fettering of the free intelligence by the words uttered long ago by ignorant men.
